I realize most people don't consider goats, sheep and cows to be wildlife, but once you get to know them it becomes clear that our categories are limited. And the human animal might be the wildest creature of all.
I love the challenge of capturing the essence of animals in my paintings. All organisms on earth shares a common ancestry, so that makes all of us quite literally one family. I keep that kinship in mind when I contemplate an animal, while also recognizing the otherness in nature's myriad forms.
Humans like to think we are special, and we are, but I believe each species is worthy of our regard and concern. The most distinctive (and frightening) thing about humanity is that we are now capable of destruction on a global scale. Perceiving the beauty, diversity and singularity of our fellow passengers might be the beginning of finding a way to avoid disaster,
